Lois Parish Evans (Tauranga)
An art quilt adventure
Finding the Extra-Ordinary in the Ordinary - A design and technique workshop
In this workshop, participants will use design principles to develop and create an original design. Using photographs of nature as inspiration, we will explore ways to express what we see as the extra-ordinary in the ordinary. Using the design process and techniques of raw edge applique, hand colouring, thread painting and free motion quilting, participants will create their own unique art quilt.
To achieve this, participants will learn and explore a variety of techniques:
- design skills
- raw edge appliqué
- hand colouring with Inktense and paints
- thread painting
- free machine quilting
Participants will use different fabrics, threads, Inktense pencils and fabric paints to build and create their own Art Quilt.
Artistic skills are not a pre-requisite , just an openness to ‘playing’ and exploring. Basic skill on a sewing machine necessary.
